RE:  Everything you need to know about graduation

 

CCBOE Policy: Only seniors who have earned 26 credits in the correct areas and have passed all parts of the Georgia High School Graduation Test and/or an EOCT in a required area are eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony.

 

Graduation will be Saturday May 24, 2014 at 9:00 AM

**Students are expected to comply with the CHS Student Code of Conduct during all practices and the graduation ceremony.

 

Things To Do Before Graduation:

  • Clear all fines, fees, and textbook obligations prior to ticket distribution (May 13th )
  • Hang up or press your graduation gown with a cloth and COOL iron to eliminate wrinkles

Tickets:

o   Tickets are no longer being required for entrance into Jardine Stadium. However, seniors will receive 6 GOLD tickets that will be used for admissions into the gym in case of rain.

    • If handicap seating is needed, students can request up to 4 tickets for handicap tickets which will be PURPLE. If a caregiver needs to sit with the person needing a handicap ticket, they must also have a purple handicap ticket. Caregivers will count as one of the four handicap tickets.  Handicap seating will be on the new home side and not on the field Tickets can be requested sduring all four lunches.       
    • GOLD: Gym entrance  ONLY
    • PURPLE: handicap if needed (Handicap tickets are for stadium use only)
  • Seniors can pick up and sign for tickets on May 13, 14 and May 15 during all four lunches.  These are the only three days to pick up tickets, no exceptions will be made. Student ID will be required to pick up tickets.
    • Fines, fees and textbook obligations must be cleared prior to receiving tickets
    • Fine notices have been included in this mailing.  Please take care of these as soon as possible.  Do not wait until May 13th.
  • Seating at the stadium on graduation morning is on a first come first served basis.  We request that all quests be seated before the procession enters the field at 8:45.

 

Seniors: What To Wear For The Graduation Ceremony?

  • Males: dress pants, white or light colored shirt with a tie, dark shoes and socks
  • Females: light colored dress or skirt and blouse, light colored dress shoes with medium heels or flats (You will be walking the length of the football field and walking fast.)
  • Both:  No jeans, no sunglasses, no cell phone use during ceremony

 

Graduation Practice Schedule: (All fines must be cleared to participate in graduation practice and ceremony.

  • Tuesday, May 13, 2014 7:40 AM - CHS Gym – Group Picture with Cap and Gown

Please make sure all graduation cords and medallions are worn for group picture. Students will be seated for group picture at 8:00 am.  A picture retake will not be taken for late arrivals.  Caps & gowns should not be worn beyond the gym

  • Senior Finals - May 19th   regular day (3rd & 4th   during those blocks) and May 20th (1st & 2nd). 
  • Wednesday, May 21st Graduation Parade at elementary schools for all seniors. 

 

·         Wednesday, May 21, 2014   6:00 PM - Jardine Stadium - Honor Graduates, senior class officers, Valedictorian, Salutatorian, JROTC, and junior class ushers

 

·         Thursday, May 22, 2014      8:15 AM – Home side of stadium- all seniors (You must be on time)

                                                                                   

·         Friday, May 23, 2014           8:15 AM – Sophomore Section of gym- all seniors (You must be on time)

 

                                                  Graduation Practice Information:

·         All practice is mandatory unless prior arrangements are made with Dr. Cummings

  • Be early for practice, or be on time

·         Wear comfortable appropriate clothing, and shoes

·         Wear hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen during practice

  • Bring a small towel and Gatorade or water
  • Speakers need to be prepared to stay after the class leaves on Thursday and Friday for an additional practice
  • Be prepared to stay until Dr. Cummings dismisses you from practice each day

 

Bits and Pieces:

  • Please, no gum during the graduation ceremony
  • Remember, No Alcohol, Drug or Tobacco uses are permitted during practice or the graduation ceremony.  If a student is determined to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, that senior will be pulled from the line and not allowed to participate. 
  • Learn the Alma Mater
  • ABSOLUTELY NO Cell Phones
  • In case of rain, practice will be conducted at the scheduled time in the gym.
  • In case of inclement weather, the graduation ceremony will be postponed for one hour at a time until 12:00 noon.  At 12:00 noon, if it is still raining, the ceremony will be conducted as scheduled in the gym.  Rain delay announcements will be made on all 3 local radio stations every hour beginning at 8:00 AM.
